Good Stuff, not as Good Stuff, Life continues

Looks like I’m doing this monthly now, eh? Ah well. Things are more or less good here in the hot...hot...Valley of the Sun. Lessee...all the things that have happened...Hank has been doing pretty good. He’s got a bit of a chewing habit that I’m trying to get him out of, but other than that he’s a total sweetheart and I’m very happy he’s here. I took the Prius in for its first scheduled maintenance and for them to check for that software glitch that has been reported in the 04-05 models. Mine didn’t have it. On not as cool news, I was experiencing nasty pain in my lower abdomen for a week solid so I decided to go to the doctor and have it checked out. My doctor thinks its a hernia, and referred me to a general surgeon to get his opinion. Apparently sometimes surgery is not necessary. I’ll find out tomorrow whether he recommends it or not. I’ve been on Naprosyn (Naproxen Sodium 500MG) for a few days. It’s not nearly as fun as Hydrocodone. ;) I joined a group called MeetINPhoenix, which is a group of people that get together and do stuff. Parties, hiking, movies, etc. I joined with a couple of friends of mine from work, just because we wanted an excuse to *do* something other than sit at home all the time. The first event we went to was an annual Luau one of the members throws at his house. There were almsot 200 people at this dudes million dollar Tempe pad. Really nice place. There was a pig, free margheritas and beer and karaoke (the karaoke I did not partake of, this time.) I had a blast and look forward to doing more with this group. Oh one last thing. I’ve been taking Hank to “Yappy Hour” on Thursday nights at a local *Dog* bakery called “Three Dog Bakery” to give him some social time with other dogs, and while there for the first time two weeks ago, I found out the other breed he is mixed with! Hank is part Chihuahua part Sheba Inu, which is a Japanese dog breed. I saw a picture of them and he looks just like one, so that’s got to be it. This last week there was a photographer taking digital pictures that will be available online for me to buy, so I’m gonna check them out as soon as they are posted and hopefully get a good one. Oh, and my advisor, finally recovered from her pregnancy, is now reviewing my thesis paper. That’s a tiny step forward.

Stop...Update time!

Wherein Ryan talks about things to come…

I’m probably going to start every one of these entries now with an apology about how I’m not updating my website. Work, Warcraft, and socializing (gasp) have been occupying my time recently. Work is great. I’m still under double-secret lockdown in regards to talking about anything. All I can say officially now is that it’s an Xbox 2 title. A few things are happening in the near future that I’m excited about…thing one is my mother’s wedding, which is this weekend, and which I am excited to be attending. The nice people here let me take two days off to fly down to Florida so I could be there. There’s going to be nearly 60 people at this thing, some people from my past that I haven’t talked to in a while and close family that all live very far away now. Should be interesting. The car is still running wonderfully (though it gets dirty quickly in this Arizona dust). This past weekend the temperature soared to 94 degrees during the day. Luckily its dropped back down to a more April-friendly upper 70s. A revision of my thesis is passing the hands of my committee members right now. This latest pass will hopefully get the last bit of criticism out there so I can have a final paper ready to submit. Keep in mind that my visual component is still miles from completion. Whoa…was I talking about things I was excited about? Lets get back to that. Thing…two I guess, is E3, which is the biggest, craziest thing to happen in the gaming world this side of China (I’ve heard Nintendo Spaceworld is also pretty crazy.) I am going to E3. I have two extra days off work to go. It is in LA and I am going to be staying with my good friends Jeremy and Katie. That means I get two full days of crazy-ass E3 conventiocon expofestarama goodness, and a weekend in LA with my buds. This will be my very first trip to California , as well as my first road-trip in my new car. Lessee…other news…erm….I’m going to be in a Street Fighter Alpha 3 tournament at work, which I will soundly lose, but I think it will be a good experience regardless. I want a dog more than ever after hanging out with my new friend Carl (who incidentally worked on Jimmy Neutron at DNA Studios). Carl has a cool-ass Chihuahua named Oscar whose tongue constantly sticks out. I promise…it’s funniest thing ever. Alright, I just had to go back and fix four or five dangling participles so I’m going to stop writing now.
