Hellp!

MOV

"Hellp!" is the culmination of Project:Backpocket, an internship I took part in during the Summer of 2004. This is a 4-minute piece that was a collaborative effort between 8 interns that was completed in 9 weeks. Hellp! was released on DVD in December of 2005.

The project that this film was born from at Vinton Studios, Project:Backpocket, was featured in Animation Magazine, October 2004 in the Opportunities section. See a PDF version of the article here. I'm the guy in the blue shirt in the back-middle on the group shot. "Hellp!" and all visual components of this piece are copyright Laika Entertainment, 2004.

The Audition

This was a collaborative project with several fellow students. It was a joint thesis between two SCAD students, Ryan Heniser (currently at Rhythm and Hues), who was experimenting with subsurface scattering in Renderman and Will Atkin who is exploring dynamic HDR lighting. Audition was completed in November of 2005. I was lead animator on this project as well as rigger. Animation and rigging in Maya, rendering and lighting in Renderman, compositing in Shake.

The Audition won first place in the SIGGRAPH 2005 SPACE competition in the category of Visual Effects.

The Machine

Thesis project directed and conceived by fellow SCAD student and current Blue Sky employee Jason Davies. I was a principle character animator on this project. Link goes to website with avi's of my contributions to the project. All 3d work was done in Maya with post in After Effects and Shake.
